Problem:

Water may enter the muffler through the exhaust stack during heavy rain and/or during long periods of machine inactivity. After the machine is started, the water in the muffler may result in black mist being ejected from the stack until the water is evaporated from the muffler.

Solution:

Drill a 5 mm (0.197 inch) diameter hole in the center of the cap on the bottom of the muffler assembly. The hole creates a drain for the water. See Illustration 1.
