Problem:
Distributors of alternative refrigerants are attempting to market their products to Caterpillar dealers and Caterpillar customers.
Solution:
Caterpillar continues to study alternative refrigerants; however, presently the only approved refrigerant for Caterpillar HVAC systems is R134a. In regards to claims by distributors of alternative refrigerants, the E.P.A. approves refrigerants for safety only, not system viability. Use of unapproved refrigerants may adversely effect the life and performance of the air conditioning system as well as warranty coverage.
