Power Train Oil Flow May Be Lost On Slopes Caterpillar

Power Train Oil Flow May Be Lost On Slopes

Usage:

TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSD5M (4BR1-391, 3CR1-555, 3DR1-283, 6GN1-829) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS;
561M (1KW1-161) PIPELAYERS

Problem:

Some reports have been received that power train oil flow to the transmission or priority valve is lost while backing up steep slopes. Loss of power train oil flow may be the result of the following:

1. Oil needs to be added to the power train.
2. The 111-5153 Hose is collapsed.
3. The 6Y-4723 Tube is not located in the center of the case.

Solution:

There is an engineering change forthcoming. In the interim, additional oil may be added to the power train. If the addition of oil does not solve the problem, replace the 111-5153 Hose. If oil flow is still lost, the 6Y-4723 Tube Assembly may be modified as shown in the following illustrations.

NOTE: Use 111-7093 Clip (2) to secure a modified 6Y-4723 Tube Assembly to the case.
