Procedure To Repair Weld Joint Cracks On Lift Arms

Usage:

BACKHOE LOADERS416B (8SG, 8ZK),

Problem:

Some cracks have occurred on the 9R-9139 Lift Arm used on backhoe loaders. These cracks occur in the "cross-tube" to arm weld joint as shown in the illustration below.

Solution:

If a crack occurs in this area, repair as follows:

1. Arc out crack before re-welding.
2. Weld the top and bottom of the tube to a 14.0 mm (.55 in) weld leg which should span at least 90 degrees with no starts or stops near top or the bottom of the "cross-tube".
