New Stabilizer Foot Caterpillar

Problem:

The new strengthened stabilizer foot cannot be fitted to the 428B & 438B between the following serial numbers: 428B (7EJ08478-7EJ09446) & 438B (3KK03539-3KK03814). The new foot will fit all 428, 438, 428C, 438C & 428B/438B not in that range.

Solution:

The lower edge of the outside stabilizer leg must be modified to the following dimensions.

Effective: Foot will fit the following machines without modification:

428 (6TC1 & up)

438 (3DJ1 & up)

428B (7EJ1-8477)

438B (3KK1-3538)

428C (8RN1 & up, 2CR1 & up)

438C (1JR1 & up, 1TR1 & up)

The following machines require modifications as per the attached instructions:

428B (7EJ08478-9446)

438B (3KK03539-3814)

REWORK PROCEDURE:

1. Remove stabilizer foot and replace pin in inner leg.

2. Raise inner leg to 25mm above bottom edge of outer leg.

3. Mark on the front, rear & inner face of the lower outer leg the dimensions below.

4. Cut away the metal to dimensions shown below.

5. Remove all burrs & clean-up cut edges.

6. Paint bare metal.

7. Re-attach the new stabilizer foot.
