Nuts Holding The Weight Group To The Compactor Drum May Not Be Sufficiently Tight Caterpillar

Problem:

There have been reported cases where the 8T3890 nuts that hold the weight group to the drum assembly on certain CB-214C and CB-224C compactors have worked loose during the first few hours of operation.

Solution:

Using a long extension and a torque wrench, check the torque of the 8T3890 nuts in the drum group on all CB-214C and CB-224C compactors within the above serial number ranges.

DRUM GROUP

The correct torque of these nuts should be: 200 N·M ± 25, (150 lbs/ft ± 18)
