ACTION REQUIRED
Before Failure Inspection Only: When performing a scheduled oil change, while the tank is empty, remove the access panel and inspect two brake cooling tubes for cracks at or near the flange. Refer to Image1. If no cracks are found, this Rework Procedure is completed. If the inspection reveals a cracked tube, replace the failed tube with a new tube (current part). After Failure: We believe that most tube failures are due to misalignment of the tube and pump. Follow these steps when replacing a failed tube. 1. Loosen all bolts, pump to tank, support bracket to tank, and support bracket to pump holding the pump in place. 2. Remove failed tube assembly and install new tube assembly (current part) to the pump and tighten. 3. Then adjust to center the tube in the hole in the block on tank wall. 4. Tighten the pump to tank bolts taking care not to change alignment of tube in hole. 5. Adjust the support plate so that it sits flat against both the bottom of the tank and the end of the pump stack. 6. Tighten the bolts in support plate to tank bottom. 7. Tighten the bolts in support plate to end of pump stack. |
