793C (4AR) Off-Highway Trucks
Description of Change: A new bellows assembly replaces a former coupling in the turbocharger groups on the engines in these machines. The bellows goes between the exhaust manifold outlet and the turbocharger exhaust inlet. This new design is more robust and will allow for thermal expansion. The new design is also more resistant to wear caused by vibration. The use of the new bellows assembly will help prevent exhaust leaks.
The use of the new bellows assembly required a change to the mating exhaust manifold sections at cylinders 5 and 12. These new exhaust manifold sections have a four bolt flange which attaches to the new bellows assembly.
Adaptable To: Two new 141-7162 Manifolds and two 8T-6765 Plugs replace the two former 113-8181 Manifolds and two 8T-6765 Plugs in the 9Y-8910 Exhaust Manifold Groups on the engines in these machines. The chart and illustration identify the new components in the 9Y-8911, 108-5559, 121-5802, 147-0790, and 147-0810 Turbocharger Groups on the engines in these machines. The two new 141-7162 Manifolds and two 8T-6765 Plugs and the components identified in the chart are effective with:

When installing the bellows assemblies, put 5P-3931 Anti-seize Compound on the bolt threads and washer faces before assembly. Tighten the new bolts to a torque of 47 ± 5 N·m (35 ± 4 lb ft). Then, tighten the new bolts again to a torque of 47 ± 5 N·m (35 ± 4 lb ft).
