14H (7WJ664-Up),
16H (6ZJ331-Up, 3JR36-Up) Motor Graders
The following improvements have been made to H-Series Motor Graders.
Remote Mounted Oil Filter
The location of the oil filter has been changed to improve serviceability. The filter has been relocated to the left front of the fuel tank. This improvement also required a change to the turbo oil lines group. This improves oil flow to the turbo during cold starts, which increases turbo life.
New Differential Lock/Unlock Indicator Light
A new indicator light is now used for the differential lock/unlock feature. The new light has been added to provide the operator with a positive indication for the status of the differential lock. The light is on when the differential is in the locked position.
New High Beam Indicator
A high beam indicator light is now used. This light is located on the left center of the EMS gauge panel, just below the left turn signal arrow. A headlamp is the symbol used. A blue light indicates the brights are on. See Illustration 1 for location.

Defrosting Ducts Improved
A new instrument panel with two additional louvers are now used in cabs. This improves the defogging ability to the upper portion of the front windshield. See the November 25, 1996 issue of Service Magazine for details on adapting earlier units. See Illustration 2 for location.

24 Volt Cigar Lighter
A 24 volt cigar lighter is now used. This improvement is located on the shift console next to the key switch, where the diagnostic test port was previously located. An ash tray is also provided.
New Location For Cup Holder, With Optional 12 Volt Power Port
The cup holders have been relocated from the rear window panel to a single holder mounted on the left door frame above the hand rail. An optional 12 volt power port may be installed in the cup holder base. See Illustration 3.

New Transmission Temperature Sensor
A new transmission temperature sensor provides a more consistent temperature reading. It is located at the top rear section of the control valve body.
Regulatory Changes To Wiring
An ISO color code change has been made to wiring. All hot wires are now "RED". This is noticeable in the fuse panel as all circuits on the left side have the "RED" wires.
Transmission Autoshift Attachment
The 104-4218 Autoshift Transmission Arrangement attachment is now available for 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H NA & ES models.
Autoshift features: For manual mode, the transmission is shifted by the operator using the shift cane. For automatic mode, the transmission shifts gear to gear based upon engine speed shift points (upshifts and downshifts, forward and reverse). The maximum gear is limited by the shift cane position selected by the operator. The operator can hold the current operating gear simply by moving the autoshift mode switch to the off position. Automatic operation is resumed by turning the switch back on. Autoshift starts and stops in third gear and works both for forward and reverse directions. An indicator lamp is located on the instrument panel which keeps the operator informed as to whether autoshift is enabled. The two position switch is located on the shift console.
Circle Drive Slip Clutch Now Standard
The 5T-0570 Circle Drive Group slip clutch is now standard on 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H, 14H NA, ES, and STD models.
Breakaway force may be adjusted to the operator's specification by adding or removing shims to the slip clutch. The adjustment procedure may be found in the "Circle Drive With Slip Clutch Group", Hydraulic and Steering System, Specifications module for the appropriate model.
Improved Front Axle
An improved 134-1080 Front Axle Group with castings and solid cross beam similar to G-Series motor graders is now standard on 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H NA, ES, and STD models.
Improved Hydraulic Lines Routing
Improvements to the routing of the 114-0025 Hydraulic Lines Group to the front plow dozer implement have been made on 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H NA, ES, and STD models. The improvements eliminate lines crossing over the front frame.
Sure Seal Connectors Eliminated
Sure seal connectors located in the harnesses under the left underside of operator platform have been eliminated on 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H NA, ES, and STD models.
New Transmission Electronic Control Module
The transmission ECM has been changed for 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H NA, ES, and STD models. A new MAC-14 controller is located under the right front side of the operator platform. The diagnostic connector has also moved and is now located directly in the front of the shift console. The MAC-14 is flash codeable using Electronic Technician (ET). Either ECAP or ET may be used to enter transmission configuration code and view machine status. It can also be programmed by following the procedure in the Service Manual and using jumper wires. See service manual module SENR9167 "MAC-14 Controller" for complete details.
S·O·S Ports Location
Scheduled Oil Sampling (S·O·S) ports have been added to the back side of the combination valve for hydraulic fluid samples. The engine S·O·S port has been relocated to the side of the previous oil filter base. The filter has been relocated on the fuel tank. See Illustration 4 for engine port location.
