New Kit Extends Life Of Rolling Hoses{6460}

Usage:

TH62 (3LN1-538, 4TM1-698) TH82 (3JN1-472, 3KN1-472) Telehandlers

Reference: Operations and Maintenance Manual SEBU6885.

Current production machines are equipped with a guide in the rear of the boom which reduces wear by controlling the extend cylinder hoses when the boom is being retracted. The hose guide and mounting plate is installed between the bottom of number two section and the lower wear pad. This article describes how to install the 144-2668 Retrofit Kit on the machines listed above to reduce wear to their rolling hoses.

Procedure To Install 144-2668 Retrofit Kit

NOTE: The 127-7970 Wear Pad Assembly should be soaked in any type of motor oil for eight hours before assembly.

1. Fully retract the boom. Raise the boom to horizontal position and install a stand under the first section to block it into position. Do not support the second section. Stop the engine.

2. Remove the cover from the rear of the boom.

3. Remove and discard the lower wear pad. Retain the shims, if installed.

NOTE: Discard the 8T-4195 Bolts removed from the lower wear pads which are 30 mm (1.2 in) long. Use the 8T-4196 Bolts which are 35 mm (1.4 in) long.

4. Install the 144-2668 Retrofit Kit.

5. If necessary, adjust the lower pad clearance using the shimming procedure as outlined in Operations and Maintenance Manual SEBU6865, "Maintenance Section," "Every 250 Service Hours or 3 Months," "Boom Wear Pads."

6. Install the rear cover on the boom.
