Reference: Special Instruction, SEHS9615, Servicing DT Connectors.

Description of Change: A new front park, turn lamp is available for replacement in conditions that create excess vibration. The new lamp is a 28 volt LED (Light Emitting Diode) type lamp which will provide very long life with no bulbs to replace. The new lamp is not affected by vibration and is a sealed unit.

Adaptable To: The new 135-0428 Signal Lamp Group can directly replace the former 3T-3967 Signal Lamp except that a Deutsch® plug (DT) must be installed on the machine wiring harness. To retrofit a 135-0428 Signal Lamp Group to a machine using the former 3T-3967 Signal Lamp Group, a mating DT connector will have to be installed on the machine wiring harness. This will allow the machine to use the new lamp group in the future without any other harness modifications. For each lamp group changed, a 102-8807 Plug Kit and 8T-8730 Sockets will need to be installed to make up the DT connector on the machine harness. The individual connector parts are also available in a 9U-7246 Kit. The necessary steps are:

1. Cut the previous connector off the machine harness.

2. Using a 1U-5804 Tool, crimp the 8T-8730 Sockets on the harness wires.

3. Also crimp an appropriate length of 5P-5623 Wire to another 8T-8730 Socket. On the other end of the wire use a 9S-9150 Crimp Tool to attach a 2L-8076 Terminal. Connect this terminal to a good machine ground. The socket attached to the other end of the ground wire is installed into position B of the DT plug.

4. Install the 8T-8730 Socket that is attached to the wire for the Park function into position C of the DT plug.

5. Install the 8T-8730 Socket that is attached to the wire for the turn function into position A of the DT connector.

6. Install the new 135-0428 Signal Lamp Group on the machine where the former 3T-3967 Lamp Group was installed. Mate the DT connector together and secure with 3S-2093 Straps.

7. Test the machine lights and turn signals for proper operation.

NOTE: The listed reference "Special Instruction, SEHS9615" has detailed instructions on servicing DT connectors.
