New Assembly Procedure For Rotate Carriage Groups {6408,6405,6460}

Usage:

TH62 (3LN, 4TM),
TH63 (3NN, 5WM) Telehandlers

Description of Change: A new assembly procedure for rotate carriage groups is now used on the above machines. A new steel washer and steel shim are also used in the new assembly procedure. The new procedure improves the service life of the rotate carriage groups.

Adaptable To: The new assembly procedure, washer and shim are adaptable to the machines listed above. The new 139-7340 Steel Back-up Washer is a direct replacement for the former 081-5789 Back-up Washer. The new 9R-8390 Shim is used to maintain axial clearance between the carriage and carrier assemblies. See Chart (A).

1. Remove rotate carriage (10) from carrier assembly (11).

NOTE: Only one 6R-7934 Thrust Washer is required during assembly. Discard 081-5789 Back-up Washers.

2. Install 6R-7934 Thrust Washer (1) onto the carrier pivot shaft.

3. Assemble carriage (10) to carrier (11).

4. Install thrust washer (3), steel back-up washer (4) and nut (5).

5. Tighten nut (5) to 10 N·m (89 lb in) minimum.

6. Check axial clearance (A) between thrust washer (3) and the carriage boss using a feeler gauge. Axial clearance (A) should be 0.75 - 1.75 mm (.030 - .070 in). If necessary, remove thrust washer (3), steel back-up washer (4) and nut (5). Install 9R-8390 Steel Shims (2) as needed at location C.

NOTE: Shims (2) can also be added at location (D), when required.

7. Tighten nut (5) to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

8. Repeat steps six and seven until clearance (A) is correct. Tighten nut (5) to 20 N·m (177 lb in). Install Split Pin (6)

9. Push the carriage (10) on the pivot shaft towards the carrier (11).Near wear pad (9), pry the carriage away from the carrier as far as possible. Measure Dimension (B), between wear pad (9) and the carrier.

NOTE: A maximum gap of 0.75 mm (.030 in) is allowed.

10. Add 089-7342 Shim (7) 0.75 mm (.030 in) and 089-7343 Shim (8) 1.5 mm (.060 in) as necessary.
