Warranty: G

Features/Benefits

* Used to remove and install threaded gland heads on hydraulic cylinders.
* Spanner wrench virtually eliminates chance of disengagement when removing or installing gland.
* Eliminates damage to gland caused by hammering, welding, heating, or other destructive means of gland removal.
* Removes glands where spanner wrench slots are in face or outside diameter of gland (each adapter works on a specific gland design).
* Designed to pilot around cylinder rod (fits most sizes of cylinder rods).
* Two wrench sizes for convenience: 9U-7868 for 25 to 80 mm (1.0 to 3.2 inch) rod diameter and 9U-7869 for 76 to 115 mm (3 to 4.5 inch) rod diameter.
* Spanner wrench is held in place with cover and six adjustable screws (can be tightened so wrench will not disengage even when rod is at a downward angle).
* Screws are fitted with nylon pads to protect cylinder rod (screws also center wrench on rod, making installation and removal on gland much faster and easier).
* New plates can be designed and released as needed.
* Handle is heat treated for additional strength and all parts are zinc coated to prevent rusting.
* Used with 5S-6090 Sliding (T) Wrench Head, 5S-6089 Handle, 8T-9294 Torque Wrench or equivalent, 2P-8261 3/4 to 1 inch Adapter, and hydraulic cylinder repair stand.

NOTE: Cylinder barrels should be honed before assembling new parts into cylinder.

Typical gland removal using spanner wrench group (1) Cover plate. (2) Adapter plate(s). (3) Cylinder barrel. (4) Wrench body. (5) Cylinder rod.

Adapter Plate Usage

Chart A will help determine which wrench matches a specific gland. The chart includes a list of each available adapter, the part number of the threaded gland, and the model of the machine. Use Chart A to select the adapter plate required for disassembly of the cylinder.

Adapter Plate Specifications

Chart B can be used to identify adapter plates or to determine if an adapter plate can be used on a gland not listed in Chart A. There are three styles of adapter plates as shown in the illustrations.

Style "A" Adapter Plate - Pins engage radially; counterbore surrounds outside diameter of gland.

Style "B" Adapter Plate - Pins engage axially; counterbore surround outside diameter of gland.

Style "C" Adapter Plate - Pins engage axially; no counterbore; plate and gland faces contact each other.
