Install Additional 8Y-6388 Louver Assemblies to Improve Defogging of Cab Windshield {7304,7309,7310,7451}

Usage:

All H Series Motor Graders

In climates with high humidity, there can be heavy fogging and moisture on the upper front windshield of the cab. To improve defogging, additional louver assemblies can be installed in each side of the instrument panel.

Procedure to Install 8Y-6388 Louver Assemblies into Instrument Panel

Illustration 1. Dimensions for Louver Assembly Mounting Template

1. Use the louver assembly template from Illustration 1 to determine the best location on each side of the instrument panel (1) for the upward and forward air flow to the upper windshield. Mark the location for a hole for the louver assembly (3) on each side of the instrument panel. Mark the location for two holes for the screws (2) on each side of the instrument panel.

NOTE: Make sure that the location of the 8Y-6388 Louver Assemblies allow for air flow to be directed above the horizontal bar that separates the upper and lower windshield.

2. With the location for the two holes for the louver assemblies marked, cut out each hole 49.0 ± 0.5 mm (1.93 ± .02 inch) wide (D) by 121.7 ± 0.5 mm (4.79 ± .02 inch) long (F) into the instrument panel.

3. With the location for the four holes for the screws (2) marked, drill four holes 2.9 ± 0.2 mm (.11 ± .01 inch) [C] into the instrument panel.

4. Install a louver assembly (3) into each hole of the instrument panel with the louver doors orientated upward using two self-tapping 104-2091 Screws (2).

Air flow can be increased to the upper louver assemblies (3) in the instrument panel (1) by closing off some of the other louver assembly outlets. When the moisture and fog has been removed from the upper windshield, the upper louver assemblies in the instrument panel may be closed and the other louver assemblies adjusted as desired.
