Caterpillar High Efficiency Fuel Filters Help Provide Maximum Fuel Pump And Fuel Injector Life {1261}

Usage:

All Caterpillar Machines

Reference: Information Release Memo FIL96-8, "Caterpillar High Efficiency Fuel Filters", Form No. PELE0503

A line of Caterpillar high efficiency fuel filters is available and strongly recomended for all machine engine applications. The use of these high efficiency fuel filters will help provide maximum life for the fuel system components. The standard fuel filters will remove particles 15 microns in diameter and larger from the fuel. The high efficiency fuel filters will remove particles 2 microns in diameter and larger from the fuel. The use of the high efficiency filters will result in the quicker removal of more debris from the engines fuel system. This will result in less wear on the extremely tight tolerance fuel system components such as fuel injection pumps and fuel injection nozzles.

Use the following chart as a reference for which fuel filters are used on which engines.

For optimum machine productivity and fuel injector and pump life, customers should standardize on Caterpillar high efficiency fuel filters on all machines.

Proper fuel handling and maintenance procedures are also critical to minimizing fuel injector damage from debris and water. Under NO circumstances should fuel filters be prefilled with fuel. Prefilling fuel filters can result in unfiltered fuel on the clean side of the filter media. Unfiltered fuel can damage fuel injection pumps and fuel injectors.

NOTE: The Reference provides more complete information about the Caterpillar high efficiency fuel filters. It is available through normal literature ordering channels.
