SUPPLEMENT FOR 793B TRUCK ENGINE Caterpillar


Oil Pan

Usage:

Remove & Install Oil Pan

1. Drain the oil from the oil pan.

2. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (4) and bracket (3) to the oil pan.

3. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (1) to the oil pump. Remove elbow (1), tube (2) and elbow (4) as an assembly.

4. Disconnect two electrical connections (5) from the oil pan.

5. Remove the bolts and retainers that hold tube (6) in position in the oil cooler.

6. Remove the bolts and clips that hold tube (6) to the oil pan.

7. Remove clip (7).

8. Remove tube (6) from adapter (8) and the oil cooler.

9. Remove the bolts that hold tube assembly (9) to the oil pan.

10. Disconnect tube assembly (10) from the oil pan. Remove the O-ring seal.

11. Disconnect hose (11) and electrical connection (12) from the oil pan.

12. Remove the bolts that hold oil pan (13) and use two persons to remove the oil pan from the engine. The weight of oil pan (13) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

13. Remove the bolts that hold oil pan (14), and use a suitable lifting device to remove it from the engine. The weight of oil pan (14) is approximately 58 kg (128 lb).

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the oil pan.

14. Make sure the gaskets are in position. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material on all gasket joints.

15. Use a suitable lifting device and put oil pan (14) in position under the front of the engine. Install the bolts that hold the oil pan to the engine.

16. Use two persons, and put oil pan (13) in position under the rear of the engine. Install the bolts that hold oil pan (13) to the engine and oil pan (14).

17. Connect hose (11) and electrical connection (12) to the oil pan.

18. Put the O-ring seal in position. Install tube assembly (10).

19. Put tube (6) in position in the oil cooler and adapter (8). Install the clips and the bolts that hold tube (6) to the adapter and the oil pan.

20. Install clip (7).

21. Install the O-ring seal. Install the bolts that hold tube assembly (9) in the oil pan.

22. Install the retainers and bolts that hold tube (6) in the oil cooler.

23. Connect two electrical connections (5).

24. Put elbow (4), tube (2), elbow (1) and bracket (3) in position, and install the bolts that hold them in place.

25. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
