Shorter Bolts Used In Four Locations To Fasten Piston Motor Head To Body{3201,4351,5058}

Usage:

225, 235, 245 Excavators;
227 Loggers;
235, 245 Front Shovels;
963 Loaders

Description of Change: Shorter bolts are now used in four locations to fasten the head to the body in piston motor groups for the above models. See the illustration.

The piston motor group uses a total of twelve bolts around the head: Four long bolts and eight short bolts. Some groups have been found where the four long bolts made contact with the bottom of the holes in the body, and did not tighten correctly against the head. This can cause seal damage and oil leakage. To prevent this possible problem, shorter bolts are now used in these four locations as shown.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement. Four new 9K7290 Bolts (82.6 mm - 3.25" long) can be installed in place of the former four 5J5794 Bolts (88.9 mm - 3.50" long) in either the 1U2778 Piston Motor Group (for all excavators, loggers, and front shovels), or the 9J8288 Piston Motor Group (for 963 Loaders). When a damaged 9D8042 Seal is found in either of the above groups, install a new seal and the new shorter bolts.
