There have been reports of vibration and broken bolts at the front of the center shaft on 3-speed torque divider transmissions used in the above machines.
The vibrations and broken bolts were caused by the use of planet gears of different weights.
Early 5M3383 Gears were drop forged, but later 5M3383 Gears and current 7G2511 Gears are made from bar stock. The weight of the drop forged gear is approximately .25 kg (.5 lb) less than the weight of the gears made from bar stock. The use of both gears in the same planet carrier causes an out of balance condition at high engine RPM.
To decrease the vibration and possible broken bolts, do NOT use the two different types of planet gears together.
The 7G2511 Planet Gear is a direct replacement for either the earlier or later 5M3383 Gear which is canceled.
To tell if the 5M3383 Gears are drop forged or made from bar stock, look at the area between the teeth and the shaft bore. If the surface is flat, the gear has been made from bar stock. If the area is concave (curved), the gear has been made from a forging. See the illustration.
