Tilt Link - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

1. Stop the machine so that the bucket is positioned flat on the ground.

2. Disconnect lubrication hose assemblies (1) and (2) (if equipped) from the manifold on the tilt lever.

3. Remove hose clip (3) (if equipped).

4. Remove bolt (4), the nut and the washers from the tilt link pin assembly.

5. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (5) from each side of the tilt link pin assembly.

6. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to the bucket end of tilt link (6), as shown. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt link pin (7). Remove the pin and the shim(s) (if equipped) from the tilt link. The weight of the pin is 24 kg (53 lb).

7. Start the engine and move the joystick control lever to the TILT BACK position to fully extend the tilt cylinder. Stop the engine.

8. Use the hoist to lower the bucket end of the tilt link to the ground.

9. Reposition the lifting sling and the hoist to the tilt lever end of tilt link (6), as shown.

10. Remove bolt (8), the nut and the washers from the tilt link pin assembly.

11. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (9) from each side of the tilt link pin assembly.

12. Remove pin (10) and the shim(s) (if equipped) that connects the tilt link to the tilt lever. The weight of the pin is 24 kg (53 lb).

13. Use the hoist to remove tilt link (6). The weight of the tilt link is 140 kg (309 lb).

14. Remove lip seals 911) from both sides of tilt link (6). Repeat this step for the other end of the tilt link.


Typical Example

15. Install Tooling (B) on the tilt link, as shown. Use Tooling (B) to remove the sleeve bearing from each end of the tilt link.
