Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

b. Release the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

NOTE: Perform Step 1 to machines equipped with the optional Autodig system.

1. Disconnect the wiring harness from four electrical connectors (1) (if equipped).

2. Disconnect the wiring harness from three electrical connectors (2).

3. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4) from the remote control valve.

4. Disconnect four hose assemblies (5) from the remote control valve.

5. Disconnect the wiring harness from three electrical connectors (6).

6. Disconnect hose assembly (7) from the remote control valve.

7. Remove two bolts (8), the nuts, the spacers and the washers that hold the remote control valve to the mounting bracket. Move the remote control valve towards the hydraulic tank to access the hoses on the cab side of the valve.

8. Disconnect seven hose assemblies (9) from the remote control valve.

9. Remove remote control valve (10) from the machine.

Installation Procedure

1. Put remote control valve (10) in position in the rear frame.

2. Connect seven hose assemblies (9) to the cab side of the remote control valve.

3. Put the remote control valve in position on the mounting bracket and install two bolts (8), the spacers, the washers and the nuts that hold it.

4. Connect hose assembly (7) to the remote control valve.

5. Connect the wiring harness to three electrical connectors (6).

6. Connect four hose assemblies (5) to the remote control valve.

7. Connect hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the remote control valve.

8. Connect the wiring harness to three electrical connectors (2).

NOTE: Perform Step 9 to machines equipped with the optional Autodig system.

9. Connect the wiring harness to four electrical connectors (1) (if equipped).

10. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.

End By:
