Tilt Lever and Tilt Link - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

1. Stop the machine so that the bucket is positioned flat on the ground.

2. Disconnect six lubrication hose assemblies (1) (if equipped) from the bottom of the manifold on the tilt lever.

3. Remove hose clips (2) and (3) (if equipped).

4. Remove bolt (4), the nut and the washers from the tilt link pin assembly.

5. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (5) from each side of the tilt link pin assembly.

6. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to the bucket end of tilt link (6), as shown. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt link pin (7). Remove the pin and the shim(s) (if equipped) from the tilt link. The weight of the pin is 24 kg (53 lb).

7. Use the hoist to lower the bucket end of the tilt link to the ground.

8. Remove the two bolts and the washers that hold cover (8) to the loader frame. Remove the cover.

9. Disconnect lubrication hose assembly (9) (if equipped) from the head end of the tilt cylinder.

10. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt cylinder guard (10), as shown. Remove the four bolts and the washers that hold tilt cylinder guard (10) to the tilt cylinder. Remove the guard. The weight of the tilt cylinder guard is 30 kg (66 lb).

11. Disconnect lubrication hose assembly (11) (if equipped) from the rod end of the tilt cylinder.

12. Remove bolt (12), the nut and the washers from the rod end of the tilt cylinder.

13. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt cylinder (13), as shown. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (14) from each side of the tilt cylinder pin.

14. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt cylinder pin (15). Remove the pin and the shim(s) (if equipped). The weight of the tilt cylinder pin is 24 kg (52 lb).

15. Use the hoist to move tilt cylinder (13) to the position shown. Secure the tilt cylinder to the rear frame, as shown.

16. Attach Tooling (B) and a hoist to tilt lever assembly (16), as shown.

17. Remove bolt (17), the nut and the washers from the tilt lever pin assembly.

18. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (18) from each side of the tilt lever pin assembly.

19. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt lever pin (19). Remove the pin and the shim(s) (if equipped). The weight of the tilt lever pin is 56 kg (123 lb).

20. Remove the tilt lever and tilt link assembly from the machine. The combined weight of the tilt lever and the tilt link is 950 kg (2095 lb).

21. Position the tilt lever and tilt link assembly on a smooth, level surface, as shown.

22. Remove bolt (20), the nut and the washers from the tilt link pin assembly.

23. Use Tooling (A) to remove collets (21) from each side of the tilt link pin assembly.

24. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt link pin (22). Remove the pin and the shim(s) (if equipped). The weight of the tilt link pin is 24 kg (52 lb).

25. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to tilt link (23). Remove the tilt link from the tilt lever. The weight of the tilt link is 140 kg (309 lb).

26. If necessary, remove lip seals (24) and sleeve bearings (25) from each end of tilt link (23). For the correct procedure, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tilt Link - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

27. Remove lip seals (26) from each side of the tilt lever.


Typical Example

28. Use Tooling (C) to remove the sleeve bearing from the tilt lever.
