Optimum performance of the 3408C and 3412C High Performance Marine Engines requires the fuel system timing be set accurately.
The 4C-8180 Timing Tool Group includes the components required for checking and setting the fuel injection timing on 3408C And 3412C High Performance Marine Engines. This tool group is NOT serviced as a group because some dealers may already have many of the components in the group. The chart lists all of the components of the 4C-8180 Timing Tool Group.
The Reference Tool Operating Manual provides the information needed to obtain and assemble the 4C-8180 Timing Tool Group. This manual describes the procedure to set the tooling and adjust the fuel injection timing.
Use of the 4C-8180 Timing Tool Group and ReferenceTool Operating Manual will improve the accuracy of the fuel injection pump timing in relation to the engine timing. This new tool group and procedure are intended to replace the pin timing method currently described in the service manual.
All of the components of the timing tool group can be stored in the 6V-3073 Plastic Case with the NEEG2651 Decal on the outside of the lid. The 4C-8184 Foam Block Group helps keep the tools in place to prevent possible damage. The foam block group should be glued to the inside of the plastic case with 8T-9021 Adhesive or an equivalent.
