Suspension cylinders that are leaking need to have rods polished to meet the surface finish requirements and resealed prior to being reinstalled on the vehicle.
Suspension cylinders on these vehicles have an HVOF surface coating. The HVOF coating has different surface finish requirements then chrome. Proper surface finish of the HVOF coating is Rz < 0.7 micrometer when measured using a profilometer with a 5 micrometer stylus. Information on polishing HVOF components can be found within SEBF8072.
