Magnetic Switches (Starter Relays) Improved

Usage:

9F3099 (24 volt) and 302266 (12 volt) Magnetic Switches have been improved. Formerly, the electrical contact disk inside the switch was allowed of float in a fiber insulator. In some applications with high vibration, the fiber insulator could wear and prevent the contacts from making an electrical connection. This would prevent the engine from starting. In the improved switches, the contact has been designed to eliminate free travel of the contact disk in the insulator. This improvement will help prevent vibration from damaging the switches. The Caterpillar part numbers of the improved switches have not changed but the manufacturer's part numbers have changed. The improved 9F3099 (24 volt) Magnetic Switch has a manufacturer's part number 1115615 and date code 7M1 or later stamped on the bottom of the can (see the illustration). The improved 302266 (12 volt) Magnetic Switch has a manufacturer's part number 1115616 (did not change) and date code 8A1 or later stamped on the bottom of the can. Stock with date codes prior to the improved date code should not be used on generator set applications.
