Fuel Filter (Secondary) and Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install

Note: The fuel filter elements can be serviced or replaced without removing the entire filter and base assembly from the machine.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from a fire.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.


  1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  2. Remove plugs (1) and drain filters into a suitable container.

  3. Disconnect hose assembly (2), hose assembly (3), hose assembly (4), and hose assembly (5).

  4. Remove bolts (6). Disconnect harness connectors (7), harness connector (8), and position out of the way.

  5. Remove filter housings (10) and elements (9).

  6. Remove bolts (11) and plate (12).

  7. Use two people to remove filter base assembly (14). Filter base assembly (14) weighs approximately 40 kg (88 lb).

  8. Remove bolts (13) and filter base assembly (14).

  9. Remove adapter (15), adapter (16), plug (17), pressure sensors (18), adapter (19), and check valve (20).

  10. Remove plugs (21), plugs (22), and plug (23).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install filter base assembly (14) and filter elements (9) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten pressure sensors (18) to a torque of 13 ± 3 N·m (115 ± 27 lb in).

    2. Apply Tooling (A) to the outside seal of filter elements (9).

    3. Hand tighten filter housings (10) to mechanical stop. Do not exceed a torque of 237 N·m (175 lb ft).
