Engine News SEBD9085, Article 10, Page 6 "Different Thread Lubricant Can Be Used On Connecting Rod And Counterweight Bolts".

Disregard this article. It has been replaced by "Recommended Lubrication And Torque Procedure For Crankshaft Counterweight Bolts" and "Recommended Lubrication And Torque Procedure For Connecting Rod Bolts" in Engine News SEBD9264, Articles 10 and 11, Pages 8 and 9.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Reports indicate that the recommended thread lubricant for the connecting rod and counterweight bolts, Fel-Pro C100, is not readily available in all areas of the world. If Fel-Pro C100 is not available, 2P2506 Thread Lubricant can be used.

Regardless of which thread lubricant is used, it is important that a coat of thread lubricant is on the bolt threads and the under side of the bolt heads. This must be repeated each time the bolts are tightened. Also note that too much thread lubricant on the bolt ends should be avoided. If a bolt with too much thread lubricant on the end is screwed into a blind hole, hydraulic lock can occur. This can cause an incorrect clamping force.
