All D379, D398, D399 Industrial, Marine and Generator Set Engines Equipped With Hydramechanical Shutoffs
Description of Change: A new air intake shutoff group is now used on the above engines. Also, a change has been made to the rack shutoff group on these engines.
The new air shutoff group has a new housing assembly and new bearings. The new bearings will have better resistance to corrosion and have a self-lubricated design. These new parts will improve the operation of the air shutoff.
A new seal is used in the rack shutoff group. The new seal is made of a viton material. This new seal will stay flexible and cause less friction in the bore of the rack shutoff housing.
Adaptable To: The new 2W8817 Air Shutoff Group is adaptable to all the above engines. The new 4W2185 Seal is a direct replacement for the former 2W8253 Seal in the 5N5762 Rack Shutoff Group.
