Borescope And Light Source Available For Internal Inspection Of Passages On Most Caterpillar Products

Usage:

A borescope inspection group and a borescope light source are available that can be used for the internal inspection of most Caterpillar products. Under most conditions, little or no disassembly of the engine is necessary before one of the borescopes is used. Little or no disassembly is necessary because of the size of the borescopes. Each borescope is 580 mm (23") long and 6.5 mm (.26") in diameter.

Each borescope group has two borescopes. Both borescopes have rigid handles. One will give a 60° direction of view and the other will give a 90° direction of view. Both borescopes have a focus adjustment. Direct and rear view borescopes are also available. Adapters are available for the borescopes so cameras can be used with them.

Uses for the borescopes include inspection of radiator/cooler passages, turbocharger inlet/exhaust impellers, crankshaft and cylinder block passages and cylinder head passages. The borescopes are especially useful for inspection of cylinder walls, valves, valve seats and the top of pistons.

The new 6V7000 Borescope Inspection Group and the 6V9460 Borescope Light Source Assembly must be ordered separately. For instructions on their use, see Special Instruction, Form SEHS8426.
