Description Of Change: A new exhaust bypass valve group and Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) soft exhaust shield group are now used on C280-16 Tier 4 diesel front mount turbo units.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

The 502-2182 Exhaust Bypass and 520-0673 Shield have been released to improve durability and increase service life. Both groups must be replaced at the same time while installing either the new exhaust bypass or the new exhaust soft shielding. Refer to the Table 3 which shows what bypass valve and exhaust shield groups are compatible.

While installing the new exhaust bypass group, the exhaust turbine inlet manifolds will need to be replaced to accommodate the new exhaust bellows used in the 502-2182 Exhaust Bypass. The 491-5609 Exhaust Manifold Gp can be used to reference the turbine inlet manifold sections.
