There have been some isolated instances of issues with radiators eroding and leaking as a result of debris entering the radiator core. This issues have occurred where the applications are operating is severe service environments, such as dusty or sandy environments.
Caterpillar recommends that the radiator is cleaned at the relevant maintenance interval using the correct procedure. Refer to the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manual for more information.
Note: Adjust the frequency of cleaning according to the effects of the operating environment.
A 372-8150 Radiator As is available. The radiator assembly contains a protection screen as part of the assembly. The radiator protection screen increases the protection of the radiator cores in severe service environments. Caterpillar recommends the installation of the radiator protection screen when the engine is operating in severe service environments.
The existing radiator assembly is still available where the protection screen is not required.
If the application is suffering from premature wear of the radiator core, then 372-8150 Radiator As can be obtained to replace 236-7766 Radiator As.
The 372-8150 Radiator As can be installed when the current configuration is 111-5767 Fan and 236-7766 Radiator As in combination.
