Marine Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Retrofit Aftertreatment Caterpillar

Product Lifting

Usage:

SCR EF5
Some removals require lifting fixtures to obtain proper balance. Lifting fixtures also help to provide safety.

Lifting eyes are designed and installed for each product. Alterations to the lifting eyes and/or the product make the lifting eyes and the lifting fixtures obsolete. If alterations are made, ensure that proper lifting devices are provided. Consult your Cat dealer for information regarding fixtures for proper lifting.

Aftertreatment Component Lifting

------ WARNING! ------

Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.

Refer to the Application and Installation Guide for additional information on lifting aftertreatment components.

Note: After the CEM has been installed, remove the lifting eyes and store separately. The thermal cycling associated with exhaust systems may damage lifting devices.

Attach appropriate lifting equipment to the lifting eyes at each corner of the CEM. Ensure that lifting equipment is clear of all sensors and fittings prior to lifting. Do not use reactor housing mounting feet to lift the CEM.

Depending on the installation configuration of your CEM, the lifting links may be installed in alternative locations. Spreader bars may be required for certain lifting configurations. If necessary, the inlet and outlet spool may be removed to allow clearance to the lifting links. Consult your Cat dealer for detailed procedures.

Do not lift the CEM with a fork lift after the CEM has been removed from the original shipping pallet.

Lifting the CEM

Prior to lifting the CEM, determine the size and weight of the CEM. Refer to table 1.

Table 1
Approximate CEM Weight
CEM Size - U and Z Flow  Weight
12 Bricks  1262 kg (2782.2 lb)
16 Bricks  1390 kg (3064.4 lb)
20 Bricks  1720 kg (3792 lb)

(3) Vertical lift configuration with spools removed

For vertical lift configuration (3), the inlet and outlet spools are removed to prevent interference with lifting cables. Spreader bars may be used in the vertical configuration.

(1) Locking slider (swivel position)

Note: The CEM may come from the factory equipped with lifting eyes which include a slider mechanism (1). The slider mechanism locks the eye bolt in place to allow the eye to be installed or removed using a bar tool. During lifting, the slider mechanism must be in the position that allows the eye to swivel freely (1).

Lifting the Dosing Cabinet

------ WARNING! ------

Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.
