Exhaust Elbow - Remove and Install - Exhaust Elbow between the Turbocharger and the Clean Emissions Module (CEM)

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove nuts (2) and bolts (8) from elbow (7).

  2. Remove allen head bolts (6) from turbocharger (4).

  3. Remove elbow (7) from turbocharger (4) and CEM (9).

  4. Remove gasket (1) (not shown) and gasket (5) (not shown).

  5. If necessary, remove studs (3) (not shown) from elbow (7)

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure that the exhaust elbow is clean and free from wear or damage. Ensure that the gasket surfaces of the exhaust elbow, the turbocharger, and the CEM are clean and free from wear or damage. Replace any components that are worn or damaged.

  2. If necessary, install studs (3) (not shown) to elbow (7). Tighten the studs to a torque of 18 N·m (159 lb in).

  3. Position a new gasket (1) (not shown) onto studs (3).

  4. Position elbow (7) onto turbocharger (4) and CEM (9).

  5. Install nuts (2) and bolts (8) to elbow (7) hand tight.

  6. Position a new gasket (5) (not shown) between turbocharger (4) and elbow (7). Ensure that the gasket is correctly orientated.

  7. Install allen head bolts (6) to turbocharger (4) hand tight.

  8. Tighten nuts (2) and bolts (8) to a torque of 25 N·m (221 lb in).

  9. Tighten allen head bolts (6) to a torque of 25 N·m (221 lb in).
