The new Cat Driver Information Display (Cat ID) Version 2.0 is available. There is new hardware and software to implement a 64K RAM chip. The former 32K RAM display (Version 1.5 and earlier) and the new Version 2.0 display look the same except the Version 2.0 display has the version number on the unit. The primary reason for the 64K upgrade was to implement multiple languages on one chip within the display. The display now has English, French, and Spanish capabilities. The new chips are color coded and the 64K chip will not function in the former 32K hardware (Version 1.5 or earlier) of Cat ID. 1999 model year electronic control modules (ECMs) are only completely supported by the 64K Version of Cat ID with Version 2.0 software.
Cat ID Version 2.0 includes new diagnostic code support for the following: J1939 Back Panel Unit, Eaton Top II, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, and 5-Volt supply. The part number for Cat ID Version 2.0 is 166-4092 and the part number for the personality module is 168-7931. The Version 2.0 personality module cannot be used in Cat ID modules with the 32K RAM chip which use Version 1.5 or earlier.
