Engine Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove tube assemblies (1) and (2).

  3. Loosen clamps (3).

  4. Remove bolts (4) and the bracket.

  5. Remove bolts (5) from the engine oil cooler .

  6. Use a suitable pry bar to remove engine oil cooler (6) from the cylinder block.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil cooler (6) in reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten hose clamps (3) to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (124 ± 9 lb in).
