Coolant Pressure Cap - Clean/Replace

Usage:

794 AC HRT

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.

At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.

Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.

Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

  1. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

  2. To relieve the pressure from the coolant system, turn off the machine. Allow the cooling system pressure cap (1) to cool. The cap must be cool enough to touch with a bare hand. Lift the lever on the cap to relieve cooling system pressure and then the cap can be removed.

Note: The cap cannot be removed until the safety lever is raised and begins releasing system pressure.

  3. Inspect the filler cap for damage, for foreign material, and for deposits.

  4. Clean the filler cap with a clean cloth or replace the filler cap, if necessary.

  5. Install the filler cap. Press open the lever and place cap into neck. While turning to lock cap into place, press down the lever to engage safety.
