Usage:

3406B (2EK) (PEEC) Truck Engines

Reference: ECAP: SPM NEXG4506, Version 1.6; Operating Manual: 05, "Using the NEXG4506 3406B PEEC Truck Functions ECAP Service Program Module. "

DDT: SPM NEXG4508, Version 2.3; Operating Manual: SEHS8743-04, "Using the NEXG4508 3406B PEEC Truck Functions DDT Service Program Module."

Several new features area included in the personality modules for 1991 3406B (PEEC) Truck Engines. These changes apply to all modules.

Diagnostic Code 28 (Throttle Position Sensor Out Of Adjustment)

If the Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal from the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is less than 5% or greater than 95%, the Diagnostic Lamp will be turned ON and the occurance will be logged.

Monitor Throttle Position Sensor Signal

This is a new display on the service tool. The PWM signal from the Throttle Position Sensor will be transmitted over the data link between the Electronic Control Module (ECM) and the service tool. This allows the ECAP or DDT to display the PWM value of the TPS signal as seen by the ECM, without having to connect the PWM Probe.

The new display may be accessed in the ECAP under "3406B PEEC Truck Functions ". Then select "Calibrate/ Monitor Sensors", then "Monitor Throttle Position Sensor Signal".

New ECAP Display for Throttle Signal.

Idle Shutdown Timer

The May 1990 Personality Module update inadvertently had the Diagnostic Lamp flash dimly rather than brightly while in the driver alert mode of the Idle Shutdown Timer. This has been corrected.

Rating Type And Personality Module Release Date

Both items will be displayed on the ECAP/DDT.
