Maintenance Recommendations
Some factors that are important for determining the overhaul intervals include the following considerations:
- Performance of preventive maintenance.
- Performing maintenance according to the scheduled time.
- Use of recommended Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).
- Proper installation.
- Operating conditions
- Operation within acceptable limits.
- Cleanliness of components.
Perform an inspection on the following components:
- Inspect harness for damaged wiring.
- Inspect for secure connections at all ends of the harness.
- Inspect harness for damaged wiring.
- Inspect for secure connections at all ends of the harness.
- Inspect harness for damaged wiring.
- Inspect for secure connections at all ends of the harness.
- Turn off power supply before unplugging or plugging in the 23-pin harness.
Air Pressure Switch (three-way solenoid)
- The air pressure switch is used to notify the ECM that the minimum 275 kPa (40 psi) air pressure is present.
- Inspect for leaks.
- Inspect for damaged wiring or faulty connections.
- Replace if damaged or faulty.
- Inspect for damaged wiring to the boost sensor.
- Inspect for damage of any tubing to the boost sensor.
- Verify boost sensor reading with a vacuum gauge or CatET.
- Replace if damaged or faulty.
- Inspect for damaged wiring or faulty connections.
- Replace if damaged or faulty.
- Inspect for DEF leaks
- Inspect Sediment Strainer for contaminants
Differential Pressure Sensor (back-pressure)
- Inspect for damage wiring to the differential pressure sensor.
- Inspect for damaged tubing and lines to the differential pressure sensor.
- Verify differential pressure sensor reading using a manometer.
- Replace if damaged or faulty.
- Trend and document system back-pressure readings during operation to verify DPF/DOC maintenance interval effectiveness.
- Do not exceed TMI/documented recommended back-pressure.
