Fuel Filter Housing - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

  2. Disconnect harness assemblies (2) and (7). Disconnect clamps (5). Remove tube assemblies (1) and (6).

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device to fuel filter housing (10). Remove bolts (9) and the washers from support (8).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and (4). Remove fuel filter housing (10). The weight of fuel filter housing (10) is approximately 34 kg (74 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position fuel filter housing (10) to support (8). Install bolts (3) and (4) .

  2. Attach a suitable lifting device in order to position fuel filter housing (10) and support (8) to the side of the cylinder block. The weight of fuel filter housing (10) is approximately 34 kg (74 lb). Install the washers and bolts (9).

  3. Install tube assemblies (6) and (1). Connect clamps (5). Connect harness assemblies (7) and (2).

  4. Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
