Engine News SEBD9795, 23 July 2012, "New Software Is Used for Certain G3516C Engines". The article was revised to add information on the shutoff strategy.

Description of Change:

The new software enhances startability and improves low load acceptance.

The new software also has a change to the configuration parameter "Engine Speed Drop Time". This parameter is activated when the ECM receives the signal for stopping the engine.

As with the previous software, the ECM monitors the engine speed after power is removed from the Gas Shutoff Valve (GSOV). The engine speed is monitored in order to verify a valid engine shutdown.

If the engine speed becomes less than 100 rpm during the programmed "Engine Speed Drop Time", the shutdown is accepted as valid. The engine will not continue to run at less than 100 rpm.

If the engine speed does not become less than 100 rpm during the programmed "Engine Speed Drop Time", the shutdown is not accepted as valid. The emergency stop is activated in order to stop the engine in case the GSOV did not close.

The recommended "Engine Speed Drop Time" for the new strategy is 30 seconds.

Adaptable To:

The new 399-2497 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp replaces the former 288-4378 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp, which is canceled.

The new software is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.

The new software is effective with serial number GZC00258:
