Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.

Safety Section

------ WARNING! ------

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may cause personal injury.

Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.

----------------------

NOTICE

Use caution when you inspect heat shields. Ensure that the engine is not running and ensure that the engine components are cool before you touch heat shields.
