Actuator Linkage - Air/Fuel Ratio Control

Reference Dimensions

(A) Setup angle down from horizontal with actuator at full open position. ... 53 degrees

(B) Actuator operating range (full open to full closed position) ... 35 degrees

(C) Reference angle up from horizontal ... 58 degrees

(D) Setup angle down from horizontal with valve at full open position. ... 15 degrees

(E) Rod Length ... 254 mm (10 inch)

Linkage Assembly

Use the following procedure to assemble the linkage:

  1. Assemble the two rod ends with the rod as shown in Illustration 1. Ensure equal engagement of the rod ends. Adjust the rod ends to achieve a center to center distance of the following value:

    Length (E) ... 254 mm (10 inch)

  2. Rotate the actuator counter clockwise until the pointer on the shaft is at the following value:

    Pointer ... 100 percent

    The fuel actuator is now in the full open position.

  3. Install the lever onto the serrated fuel actuator shaft as shown in Illustration 1. The lever should point to the following value below horizontal:

    Angle (A) ... 53 degrees

    Tighten the lever.

  4. Connect the assembled rod end onto the fuel actuator lever.

  5. Rotate the valve shaft until the valve is at the full open position. Line on end of shaft should be perpendicular to the ground.

  6. Install lever onto the valve shaft as shown in Illustration 1. The lever should point to the following value below horizontal:

    Angle (D) ... 15 degrees

    Tighten lever onto valve shaft.

  7. Connect the assembled rod end to the valve lever. Ensure that the rod end will attach with the fuel valve and actuator in the open position.

  8. Tighten all hardware. Recheck the linkage. Compare the linkage to Illustration 1 fuel valve open and closed positions. Ensure the fuel actuator and the fuel valve rotate through the entire operating range (A). Make any adjustments if necessary.
