Working with electrical circuits is hazardous. Bodily contact with electrical potential will cause personal injury or death. Ensure that personnel are trained in proper operating procedures in order to ensure safe operation. |
NOTICE |
---|
Installation compliance with all local, state, and regional electrical codes and ordinances must be completed by qualified personnel that are trained and certified. Operation of the UPS should only be carried out by trained personnel. The compliance also includes the operations that are related to the battery cabinet. |
Single UPS
The instructions in this section allow the user to perform the following:
- Isolate the UPS from the source of electricity.
- Supply the load directly by the normal or the bypass AC source.

- Shut down the UPS by pressing the OFF button (8) for 3 seconds.
The load is no longer protected by the UPS.
- Close bypass switch "Q3BP" (23) .
- Open isolating switch "Q5N" (24) .
- Open isolating switch "Q4S" (25) .
- Open isolating switch "QF1" (26) .
- Open isolating switch "Q1" (27) .
The UPS is powered down once the capacitors have discharged.
Note: Wait a minimum of 5 minutes for the capacitors to discharge. Ensure that the capacitors are at zero energy prior to performing maintenance within the cabinets.
- Wait until the display and LED lights go off.
The UPS system is no longer protecting the electrical load. The UPS continues to be supplied with AC power. Maintenance or servicing for the UPS can now be carried out.
Bodily contact with electrical potential can cause bodily injury or death. To avoid the possibility of injury or death, ensure that the main power supply has been disconnected before performing any maintenance or removing any modules. |
Parallel UPS With External Bypass Cabinet
NOTICE |
---|
Caution must be taken with parallel units with external maintenance bypass. The following information applies when "CB1" (MBP) is closed and "CB2" (UPS Isolation) is open. During maintenance operation, each UPS display will show the message, "LOAD PROTECTED", when the UPS is placed in on-line mode. In the on-line mode, the critical load is not protected because the power to the load is supplied by the maintenance bypass power. |

The instructions in this section allow the user to perform the following:
- Isolate the Parallel UPS System from the source of electricity
- Supply the load directly by the normal or the bypass AC source
- Shut down all of the UPS by pressing the OFF buttons (8) for 3 seconds.
- Close the parallel system bypass switch "Q3BP" (23a) on the external bypass unit.
- Open the parallel system output isolation switch "Q5N" (26a) on the external bypass unit.
- Open isolating switch "Q1" (24) ans (27) on each of the UPS units.
- Open battery isolating switch "QF1" (25) on each of the UPS units.
- Open output isolating switch "Q5N" (26) on each of the UPS units.
