    Note: The pump drive output gear can be removed without the removal of the case assembly. Only the removal of the idler gear requires the removal of the case assembly.

  1. Position the transmission onto suitable cribbing. The weight of the transmission is approximately 1316 kg (2900 lb).

  1. Remove bolts (1) and (2) .

  1. Disconnect harness assembly (3) and position the harness assembly out of the way. Remove the input speed sensor.

  1. Remove bolt (5), retainer (6), and yoke (7). Remove O-ring seal (4) (not shown).

  1. Yoke (11) is located on the opposite side. Remove bolt (9), retainer (10), and yoke (11). Remove O-ring seal (8) (not shown).

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to Locations (X). Remove the bolts for cover assembly (12). The weight of cover assembly (12) is approximately 59 kg (130 lb).

  1. Use Tooling (D) to break the seal between the case assembly and cover assembly (12). The holes for inserting Tooling (D) are at Locations (X). Remove cover assembly (12) .

  1. Remove the retainer and remove gear (13) .

  1. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to shaft assembly (14). The weight of shaft assembly (14) is approximately 75 kg (165 lb). Remove shaft assembly (14) .

  1. Mark the location of bearing cage (17) for assembly purposes. Remove bolts (16). Use Tooling (C) in order to remove bearing cage (17). Remove shims (15) (not shown).

  1. Repeat Step 10 for the other bearing cages.

  1. Remove bolt (19). Remove tube assembly (18) and the O-ring seals.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to case (21). Remove bolts (20) and (22). The weight of case assembly (21) is approximately 365 kg (805 lb).

  1. Use Tooling (D) to break the seal of case assembly (21). Remove case assembly (21) .

  1. Use a suitable lifting device in order to reposition case assembly (21) onto suitable cribbing.

  1. Remove bolts (23). Use Tooling (D) in order to remove pump drive cover (24) and pump drive gear (25) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (26) and gear (25) from cover (24) .

  1. Use Tooling (E) in order to remove bearings (27) from gear (25) .

  1. Remove bolts (28), plate (29) and O-ring seal (30) .

    Note: Care should be taken when bolt (31) is removed. When the bolt is removed, shaft (32) could fall out of the bore.

  1. Remove bolt (31) and remove shaft (32) from the bore.

  1. Remove idler gear (34) and remove thrust washers (33) .
