Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install
Start By:
- Remove the exhaust elbows. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Elbow - Remove and Install".
- Remove the air inlet manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install".

- Remove bolts (1), manifold (2), and sleeves (3), if necessary.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to exhaust manifold (4). The weight of exhaust manifold (4) is approximately
75 kg (165 lb) . Remove bolts (5) that attach exhaust manifold (4) to the cylinder heads. - Remove exhaust manifold (4) and exhaust manifold gaskets (6).

- Apply Tooling (A) to the threads, the bearing surfaces, and the inner diameters of clamps (9). Install bellows assemblies (7), clamps (9), and manifolds (8). Tighten clamps (9) to a torque of
25 ± 6 N·m (220 ± 55 lb in) .Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g01244926 - Attach a suitable lifting device to exhaust manifold (4). The weight of exhaust manifold (4) is approximately
75 kg (165 lb) . - Install new exhaust manifold gaskets (6) and position exhaust manifold (4) onto the cylinder head. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (5). Install bolts (5) and tighten to a torque of
50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft) . Tighten bolts (5) again to a torque of50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft) . - Install sleeves (3) and manifold (2), if necessary. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (1). Install bolts (1) and tighten to a torque of
55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft) .
