Procedure for Installing the 3N-8468 Clamp As on the Auxiliary Water Pump of Certain Marine Engines{1371} Caterpillar

Generator Set:

C32 (S/N: RNE1-UP; RNX1-UP)

Marine Engine:

3406E (S/N: 9WR1-UP)

3412E (S/N: 9KS1-UP)

C15 (S/N: RLA1-UP)

C18 (S/N: WKB1-UP; PLE1-UP; CKH1-UP; C1J1-UP; JKX1-UP; J2K1-UP; T2P1-UP)

C30 (S/N: CLX1-UP)

C32 (S/N: RXB1-UP; RNC1-UP; RND1-UP; RNR1-UP; SLT1-UP; T3T1-UP; RNY1-UP; RNZ1-UP)

Introduction

Do not perform the procedure that is outlined in this Special Instruction until the entire instruction has been read and understood.

Installation Procedure

1. Ensure that the clamps are installed in the correct orientation. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2 for the correct pump configuration and clamp orientation.

2. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque of 10 N·m (88.5 lb in).

   Note: Tightening the bolts evenly will ensure an even clamp force across the mating flanges with putting stress on the clamps.
