SERVICE MAGAZINE, MARCH 12, 1979, PAGE 7. The article "SAE 15W/40 Multiviscosity Oil Can Be Used In Engines, Transmissions And Final Drives" tells you SAE 15W/40 multiviscosity oil of CD quality can be used in engines, transmissions and final drives in specific temperature conditions. When SAE 15W/40 multiviscosity oil is used in a transmission, be sure it has a classification of CD/TO-2.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

SAE 15W/40 multiviscosity oil of CD quality can be used in engines when the ambient (atmospheric) temperature range is between +5°F (-15°C) and 120°F (49°C) and in transmissions when the ambient temperature range is between +5°F (-15°C) and 100°F (38°C). Multiviscosity oils can also be used in final drives if the machine is operated in cold weather only. Do not use multiviscosity oils in final drives when the temperature is above 32°F (0°C).

If a supplier has data (information) that says his oil can be used at a lower temperature than our recommendation, the machine can be operated at the lower temperature.
