Improvements Made To Fuel Injection Pump And Governor Group{1253,1281,1286}

Usage:

3208 Industrial (90N37285-Up),
Marine (75V4002-Up),
Vehicular (79V5380-Up) and Truck (32Y1-Up) Engines

Description of Change: Several improvements have been made to the fuel injection pump and governor group for 3208 Engines with the serial numbers shown above. A new fuel pump housing assembly that has larger guide pins for the lifters is used. In addition, a new fuel pump camshaft and new lifters are used.

The new fuel pump camshaft makes the lifters move up faster. This causes a faster fuel injection rate. The faster injection rate will give less emissions. The new lifters are .025" (.635 mm) shorter than the former lifters. The new guide pins have a .125" (3.18 mm) diameter, which is larger than the former guide pins.

Adaptable As: The new pump housing with special lifters is directly adaptable to earlier engines.

When a new 9N3754 Pump Housing Assembly is used with the former 9L6542 Fuel Pump Camshaft, eight new 8N1317 Lifters are needed. The new 8N1317 Lifter is the same length as the former lifter, but has a wider groove than the former lifter. The former 8N977 Guide Pins are still available for parts service of the former 9N2436 Pump Housing Assembly and can be used with the 8N1317 Lifters.

The former 9L6542 Camshaft must not be used with the later engines shown above. The use of this 9L6542 Camshaft with these later engines will have an effect on emission levels and change the fuel rate.
