    (11) Bracket for the exhaust

  1. If the bracket for the exhaust is present, loosen the C-clamp that is holding the exhaust pipe to the bracket.

  1. Remove one of the bolts that are holding the bracket to the engine and save the bolt. Loosen the other bolt.

  1. For all engines, use the connector (8) that was removed from the back of the cylinder head in Step 12 above. By using a new O-ring seal (1), install connector (8) into tee (10) .

  1. By using a new O-ring seal (1), install check valve assembly (2) into the valve cover base.

  1. Install elbow (3) onto check valve assembly (2) .

  1. Attach clips (6) to hose assembly (7) with the curved half of the clip toward the engine. Tie the loose ends of the clips in order to hold the clips together during the assembly to the engine.

  1. Attach hose assembly (7) to connector (8). Then, attach hose assembly (7) to elbow (3). Hand tighten the hose assembly.

  1. If the lifting eye is installed, use bolt (5) and attach clips (6) with bushing (4) between the clips and the lifting eye.

  1. If the lifting eye is not installed, use bolt (5) and attach clips (6) with 054-6233 Spacer in place of bushing (4) between the clips and the back of the cylinder head.

  1. Tighten both ends of the hose assembly that was installed in Step 7. Tighten the fitting at elbow (3) first.

  1. If the bracket for the exhaust is present and the bracket interferes with the newly installed hose assembly, insert one 7X-0507 Hard Washer between the bracket and the engine and install the bolt that was removed in Step 2.

Note: Additional washers may be needed to eliminate interference between the line and the bracket.

  1. Remove the other bolt that is holding the bracket to the engine, and install a 7X-0507 Hard Washer .

Note: Additional washers may be needed to eliminate interference between the line and the bracket.

  1. Tighten the C-clamp to the bracket for the exhaust.

Refer to Table 1 for a listing of the parts that are needed in order to convert to the new 340-1286 Hose As .
