Improved Cylinder Head Gasket Now Used{1101,1201}

Description of Change: A new cylinder head gasket is used on the above models. The new gasket has a fire ring made of a larger diameter wire to give a better seal against combustion gases.

Adaptable As: The new 8N4810 Gasket is a direct replacement for the former 7N3642 Gasket which has been canceled. Two gaskets are needed per engine.

INSTALLATION: When the new 8N4810 Gasket is installed, tighten the 5/8" (15.9 mm) diameter cylinder head bolts to a torque of 200 lb ft (270 N·m). Formerly, these 5/8" (15.9 mm) bolts were tightened to a torque of 150 lb ft (205 N·m). Be sure to use the correct procedure and sequence shown in the Service Manual to tighten the cylinder head bolts.
