Description Of Change: New cylinder packs are now used on the engines that are listed above. The new cylinder packs include a piston pin with a coating of tungsten and carbon. This coating improves scuffing resistance, and wear resistance. The coating also reduces friction.
Adaptable To: The 10R-8409 Cylinder Pack As is a direct replacement for the old 0R-7858 Cylinder Pack Gp. The 10R-8410 Cylinder Pack As is a direct replacement for the old 10R-3270 Cylinder Pack Gp. The new cylinder pack is adaptable back to the first production of the listed engines.
If the 10R-8409 Cylinder Pack As is replacing the 0R-7858 Cylinder Pack Gp, all cylinders must be replaced. The oil spray jets must also be replaced with the 173-0147 Piston Cooling Jet As with the 150-1156 Special Bolt.

The new piston pin (2) with the coating of tungsten and carbon will be black in appearance. Refer to Illustration 1.
Note: Failure to use this coated piston pin could result in seizure of the piston pin.
